Complying with The Americans With Disabilities Act
(ADA)
ADA regulations are detailed. However, the table below summarizes
new proposals that cover changes in elevation, clearance for maneuvering
or turning, control devices, service counters and doors.

-A
change in level up to 1/4" requires no modifications.

-A
change in level over 1/2" must be ramped.
-Door threshholds should not exceed 1/2"

-The
width for clear floor space should be 36",
-Wheelchair turning or passing space requires 60" of clearance.
-Areas should be clear of obstructions to knees or toes. |

-Doorways
shall have a clear opening of at least 32".
-Doors must open 90 degrees
-Doors can be manual or automatic.
-Revolving doors should not be the only means of passage. |

maximum force required to activate controls and operating mechanisms
for doors should be 5 lbs of pressure.
-The maximum force needed to open interior hinged doors, sliding doors,
or folding doors should be 5 lbs.
-All controls should be operable with one hand and not require tight grasping,
